Sirius

Over the past year, NEM embarked on a programme to restructure key internal processes with a view to improving the efficiency of its operations. Integral to the success of this new programme is the implementation of a new general insurance application called SIRIUS for Insurance. September 1, 2006 was earmarked as the “go live” date.

Sirius will change life at NEM. There will be big, innovative and exciting changes as SIRIUS revolutionizes the way things are done. Sirius is a cost-effective, functional and highly flexible software which will make work easier for everyone. Unlike the legacy system I/90, Sirius is designed around the clients instead of the policies. This allows for easy access to client information and provision of fast and comprehensive answers to questions.

To facilitate the conversion, all transactions related to policies with effective cover periods from September onwards will be run on Sirius and transactions effected prior to September 2006 on the legacy system I/90 will be transferred simultaneously. We anticipate the process will take a few months and extend into 2007.

As a consequence, there will be notable changes to both business processes and procedures which will inevitably impact our organization. The areas of business to be most directly affected are the processing of Underwriting and Claims.

The Board of Directors and Executive Team would like to thank all staff for their positive contributions throughout the year to make SIRIUS successful, and we look forward to making NEM one of the most efficient insurance companies in the Caribbean.
